The MPA Releases new study on the Economic Impact of a Proposed US Federal Production Incentive

New research from Olsberg•SPI for the Motion Picture Association (MPA) highlights the potential economic impact of a federal film and television production incentive that would complement existing state-level programs.
The study examines how a federal incentive could work alongside state programs to strengthen the U.S. production ecosystem, support American workers and businesses, and increase economic activity across the country.
The Motion Picture Association explains:
“This Study models the economic impact of introducing a federal incentive in the US that would sit alongside existing state programs, comparing two scenarios over the period 2027 to 2035: one in which a federal incentive is not introduced, and one in which a federal incentive takes effect from 2027.”
The study finds that the difference between these two scenarios represents the additional economic impact associated with a federal incentive. Its findings provide policymakers with data to better understand how a federal program could complement state-level incentives and support a competitive U.S. production industry.
